Here at Four Acres and Bishopsworth Children's Centre we offer both paid daycare and Free Early Education Entitlement childcare places for families with children aged 2-3 years old that meet certain criteria. For more information about a free child care place you can visit this website by clicking here or give us a call on (0117) 9060460.
The Four Acres site has two playrooms; Ladybird Room and Butterfly Room offering childcare five days a week between 8am and 5pm. Childcare sessions are allocated during the morning or afternoon for 12 hours a week. There is a third playroom at our Bishopsworth site called Crickets Room, which offers childcare Tuesday to Fridays, 1pm-4pm.
All our rooms are bright and inviting and contain resources that allow children to engage in all areas of learning. We regularly update displays to reflect children's interests and showcase fantastic work.
At Four Acres and Bishopsworth Children's Centres we value children's interests and use this as a stimulus for planning. We plan for a wide range of exciting activities based on the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum; promoting learning through rich play experiences. Practitioners plan for both child led and adult led learning opportunities both inside and outside and adopt a free flow approach between the indoor and outdoor environment. Areas of the EYFS include Personal, Social and Emotional Development, Communication and Understanding, Physical Development, Literacy, Mathematics, Understanding the World and Creative Development.
We record children's learning using an online program called Tapestry; this allows us to capture a range of learning using photos, videos and annotations. Tapestry allows you to view and add to your child's learning journal from home using a computer, laptop, tablet or mobile phone by downloading the Tapestry App. You will need to have an email address and set a personal password to link to your child's learning journal. Please ask a member of staff for information about signing up.
We evaluate children's progress using Early Years Outcomes (previously Development Matters) and look for areas of strength and gaps in learning and will plan activities that allow children to 'close the gap'. We also carry out a 'Six Week Settling in Review' alongside the parent/career once the child has settled and hold 'Next Steps Reviews' every three months. When your child leaves us we will carry out an 'Exit Report' that will be passed on to their next nursery.
If you would like more information about our childcare provision please contact Siobhan Walsh (Childare Manager), Annette Dickson (Childcare Manager) or Hannah Edwards (Lead Teacher).
